1.8/3(3.6) kV single-core aluminum-wire-armored (AWA) power cables are suitable for medium- and low-voltage power distribution networks. They feature a round, compactly stranded annealed copper conductor and a cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulation layer capable of withstanding a long-term operating temperature of 90°C and a short-circuit transient temperature of 250°C. The armor layer consists of non-magnetic aluminum wire (standard configuration), and the inner and outer sheaths are standard black polyvinyl chloride (PVC); however, polyethylene (PE) can be selected upon request to enhance moisture resistance and resistance to environmental stress. Additionally, copper wire armor (CE-AWA) is available as an option.

  • Underground Power Distribution Systems: Aluminum Wire Armored (AWA) cables provide excellent mechanical protection, allowing them to be installed directly underground and effectively resisting potential damage caused by soil movement or accidental excavation.
  • Indoor, Outdoor, and Conduit Installation: Suitable for indoor use in cable trenches, cable trays, and conduits, as well as for outdoor exposed installations (where the jacket must be UV-resistant).
  • Power Distribution Within Industrial and Power Facilities: Widely used for feeder lines in power plants, internal power distribution in industrial and mining enterprises, and connections in substations and switchgear.

  • Non-magnetic armor eliminates losses: For single-core AC cables, non-magnetic materials must be used for armor. Unlike steel tape armor (SWA), aluminum is a non-magnetic material; therefore, AWA completely eliminates eddy current losses and overheating issues in single-core systems, ensuring safe cable operation.
  • Excellent Mechanical and Corrosion Resistance: Aluminum wire armor provides outstanding mechanical protection, making it suitable for applications with a risk of mechanical damage, such as direct burial. At the same time, aluminum armor inherently offers good corrosion resistance, outperforming steel armor especially in humid environments.
  • Wide Range of Sizes: This cable is available with copper conductors in a wide range of cross-sectional areas, typically from 10 mm² to 800 mm², capable of meeting various power distribution capacity requirements.
